Grazie infinite per averci sentito, mi dispiace s'è la colonna suonore non era molto buono per la chitarra ed era troppo forte delle volte (la chitarra ha un piccolo guasto tecnico) , la colpa non e nostra, mai, sempre degli altri vero? Grazie a Henry il tecnico maestroso, e grazie a Suz e Rude, sono stati splendid come sempre.

When someone handed me a copy of Dr Kinnell's new novel I was surprised. Not the least because, only a few weeks prior, I had been trudging the wet muddy lanes of county Limerick, making countless and expensive calls here there and everywhere, his agent, the Dublin Literary Guild and various relatives of his who I had tracked down, just trying to get an interview with him. All to no avail.
I had thought, wrongly it seems, that in the newly heralded Obama days, relationships could be re-newed and dialogue opened, you know jaw jaw jaw rather than the usual American cluster bombing, pouring water over prisoners and all that stuff like that. Obama is JFK re-incarnate I always say. The suntanned version of course, as Mr Silverhair Berlusconi of Italy (their PM you know) was kind enough to point out. I digress me luvvies, as always...

And now, in the midst of a cocktail evening at one of Manhattan's swishest, a copy of his new and yet to be realeased book was gifted.

I'll give you snippets, a fleeting yet telling glance:

And one can understand that, even at his rather ripened years.

'Madsummer night's dream' - now playing

The season is upon us, if you haven't noticed. Those in the town centre cannopt(sic) opt to avoid it as they are serenaded until 0400 (Saturday night13th June 2009 so says poor Antonia who is rabid still as we speak (Monday)). No use complaining just enjoy it. Vetralla is dancing the night away. Raucous youth has not lost its will to disturb our sleep. 'Twas always thus' retorted Padràig when I twittered him yesterday

Book Club

And, speaking of things literary, Amanda's book group would be devasted and not a little envious, but I afraid it is too late to crow. Padràig Kinnell, a distant cousin from Tipperary, arrives tomorrow for a brief luncheon or brunch who knows, 'en famille' (in the cellar actually). Continuing in that vein as I try to improve my Frog; strictly 'entre nous', (please don't mention it to my 85 year old mother Mary (not the same one) bless her, as she takes a somewhat dim view of Padràig, I'll tell you why later if you wish.
He read Phil and Lit at New College Ldn and the Art at Trin.Dub. And he thinks he's clever the little whipper snapper, now almost 64. We'll be having a chat about Plato and Aristotle and their little exchanges in 'Laches'. Bloody boring I hear you say!

I have suggested to Martha that she incorporate a book club. 'Vetlib' would be a good title wouldn't it? Though it has Vietnam like connotations! How about 'Libvet' then. Oh, go on, use your own imagination.

I certainly will pass on your regards to Padràig, should you wish. Thank you.
